MJ Lenderman, Animal Collective, Horse Jumper of Love, Reggie Watts, Squirrel Flower, and more have contributed to We Love It Here., a new benefit compilation that raises funds for Lamplight AVL, a nonprofit organization supporting people in the Asheville, North Carolina, arts community who have been affected by Hurricane Helene. It’s available to buy digitally today, with limited-edition vinyl preorders currently ongoing, too. Listen to the album below.
Asheville recording studio Drop of Sun organized We Love It Here. after watching the local arts community struggle to recoup following the extensive damage of Hurricane Helene. The album also features a collaborative track by Yellowjackets and Heretic actress Sophie Thatcher and Maral, plus songs by Hello Mary, Nightlands, Fust, Green-House, and Floating Action. Vinyl copies comes with a second Animal Collective track, too, called “Better Things to Come.”
“The remarkable breadth of these previously unreleased tracks reflect Drop of Sun’s core principle of fostering an environment for artists to freely and boundlessly create,” explained Drop of Sun founder Adam McDaniel in a press release. “Being a resource to the Asheville arts community has yielded wonderful, long-lasting relationships, amazing songs like these, and a platform to communicate and cope during hard times. We are thrilled to share these exclusive songs with you.”
