BTS’s live comeback won’t begin at the start of their world tour this spring, but rather at home in the comfort of everybody’s living room. The K-pop juggernauts have announced BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang, a special concert broadcasting exclusively on Netflix. What’s more, they also inked a deal with the streaming giant to release a new documentary, BTS: The Return.
BTS will perform their Netflix concert on March 21—one day after the release of their new album, Arirang—at the Gwanghwamun in Seoul. The livestream begins at 7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. It will be directed by Hamish Hamilton, and lists Hybe, BigHit Music, Guy Carrington, Garrett English, and Kevin Hermanson as executive producers. It’s the first-ever live event to be broadcast globally from Korea, notes Deadline.
BTS: The Return will hit Netflix on March 27. Directed by Bao Nguyen, the film follows BTS as they plot their reunion. In 2021, the group paused all activities to complete South Korea’s mandatory military service. The K-pop group dropped their first anthology album, Proof, the following June, while each member pursued their own solo projects afterward, including J-Hope’s Jack in the Box, RM’s Indigo, and Jimin’s Face.
Arirang is the first full-length album by BTS in six years, following 2020’s Be. This April, BTS will embark on a massive stadium tour, which spans 79 shows across five continents.
