Billie Eilish Performs On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Billie Eilish appeared on Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the third time on Saturday, December 16, and sang her track from the Barbie soundtrack “What Was I Made For?,” accompanied by her brother Finneas on piano.

The track was introduced by director Greta Gerwig and host Kate McKinnon. Eilish also offered up a sterling rendition of the Judy Garland holiday classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Check out both videos below.

Christian McBride joined Eilish and Finneas on bass for “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” In a statement, McBride said, “Playing on SNL was a total thrill. Billie Eilish has become one of my favorite people to work with, and her entire family are the kindest people. Also, seeing everyone in the SNL band—many of whom are my good friends—was like a family reunion.”

Eilish celebrated her third trip to the heralded show. Back in 2019, she performed “Bad Guy” and “All the Good Girls Go to Hell” from her first LP, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? In 2021, Eilish served as both host and musical guest, performing the Happier Than Ever title track and “Male Fantasy.”

Back  in October, Jimmy Kimmel introduced Billie Eilish and Finneas on his show by comparing them to iconic sibling duos like Bart and Lisa and Luke and Leia, but music hasn’t seen a sibling duo so prevalent since Karen and Richard Carpenter.

Speaking of the Carpenters, the siblings revealed to Kimmel that their father joined their tour as one of the set carpenters, building the stage each day with the crew. He’s adamant, however, that he doesn’t get special treatment for being dad to the stars.

“He won’t tell anyone on the crew his full name crew because he doesn’t want anybody on the tour to know that he’s related to me,” Eilish told Kimmel. No “reverse nepotism” for him, as Finneas jokingly called it. The siblings’ mom was also on tour, but she preferred to just hang with Billie.
