Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ latest Wild God track is here. “Long Dark Night” is inspired by the poem “Dark Night of the Soul” by the 16th-century Spanish poet St. John of the Cross—“one of the greatest and most powerful poems of conversion ever written,” Cave says in a press release. “Ultimately, though, it’s a beautiful country tune. It feels like a sweet companion to the song ‘Wild God.’”
Wild God, the follow-up to 2019’s Ghosteen, arrives August 30. In May, the band released “Frogs,” a song, Cave said at the time, that “just puts a big fucking smile on my face.”
