The 2LP release features album singles “Angry,” “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” and “Mess It Up.” Fans will also be able to hear seven additional live performances recorded at the album’s live launch at Racket, New York in October 2023, including “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” with Lady Gaga, as well as performances of “Shattered,” “Tumbling Dice,” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” The vinyl also comes with a 24 page booklet including photos from the performance by Kevin Mazur.
Hackney Diamonds charted at #1 in 19 territories around the world selling over a million units since release. Lead single “Angry” was nominated for Best Rock Song at 2024’s Grammy Awards, while the single became the Stones first Top 40 single in the U.K. in 18 years. This year, the Stones took the album on the road and performed for massive crowds on the Hackney Diamonds stadium tour across the US.
Last year, Keith Richards described the process behind making the new album: “It was a pleasure to put it together, it was a pleasure to work with Andrew Watt, who really added the gas in there and kept the thing going. Probably the most important thing about the record, at least from my point of view, is it was a lot of energy and it was a forced-in blitzkrieg. You either went in all the way or you didn’t, and it came pretty much as we’d hoped. It was interesting work, and now I’m still catching up with it, actually. I never used to work this fast.”
For his part, Mick Jagger added, “I’m glad it happened, that‘s all I can say, and it was really good fun doing.”
