The album features iconic songs from across the Toy Story series including “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story, “When She Loved Me” from Toy Story 2, “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3, “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” from Toy Story 4, and more.

Pixar was determined that the music of Toy Story set it apart. As Andrew Stanton, the co-writer of all four Toy Story films, told The Ringer in 2022, “We wanted to prove you could make different movies and different tones and different styles in animation other than a giant Broadway musical fairy tale… I remember we were very adamant: no songs, no songs, no songs… [Disney] said, ‘You’ve got to have songs.’”

Many of the beloved tracks featured on Toy Story: Songs to Infinity and Beyond are critically acclaimed, with Randy Newman receiving many awards nominations and wins for his work. In 1995, Toy Story was nominated for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score at the Academy Awards and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” was nominated for Best Original Song. Toy Story 2’s “When She Loved Me” was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar and won Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media at the Grammys.

In 2010, Toy Story 3 won a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. That film’s “We Belong Together” won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Most recently, in 2019, Toy Story 4’s “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” was nominated for Best Original Song. Another song on the soundtrack, “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” won a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
